Mission Statement
Our mission is to further knowledge and understanding of human biological mechanisms to advance humanity and medical science.
Key Strategic Vision
Through research of cellular pathways and study of unique patients we hope to further understanding of biological pathways and disease mechanisms. In particular, the study of human outliers, often with rare or orphan diseases, presents unique opportunities to gain insight into human biology and extrapolate out this knowledge for the benefit of science.

Why Give?
The Atwal Foundation has provided charitable genetic diagnostic and counseling services, along with educational activities for the public, teaching of students, training of post-doctoral fellows and groundbreaking research. Our goal is to help patients and further the evolution of medical genetics. Patients on long diagnostic journeys have finally found answers, quality care, and reassurance about themselves, their future children, and pregnancies through the services Atwal Foundation provides.
Recognized across the globe for our charitable services and scientific publications, the Atwal Foundation has the privilege of serving physicians and institutions worldwide.
Philanthropy is indispensable with the increasing costs of new essential genetic technology. All corporations, foundations, businesses, families and individuals are welcome to provide tax-deductible donations. This financial support enables the continuation of research and development that has led to the discovery of new syndromes, novel clinical methods to detect rare metabolic diseases and inborn errors of metabolism, and other revolutionary research.
Genetic testing is often required but not covered by insurance, leaving many individuals unable to afford it for themselves or their family. This can present a serious obstacle for patients effected by genetic disorders. Donations can be made to specific disease categories to support genetic testing for individuals or families in need (e.g. PKU, MELAS, Gaucher, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome).
